Maybe make their day a little bit brighter? It doesn’t have to take much time or money on your part. In fact, many things can be done as a part of your normal routine and cost little or nothing. You won’t know how many people are encouraged by your kindness because smiles are contagious. Try out one or more of these 7 ways today to put smiles on their faces.

1. Write an encouraging note to others that have encouraged you or that need encouragement. Handwritten notes that are given to encourage, not just for thanking someone for a gift, are rare. That makes handwritten notes even more special. Start a new practice of sitting down and writing an encouraging note on a regular basis. You just might start an epidemic!

2. Take a friend out to lunch or invite her to your home for a meal. You will get to know each other even better than you do right now. If you feel like being more adventurous, throw a party for several of your friends and put smiles on a multitude of faces.

3. Give someone an inspirational book to read. You will feel good doing it, reading the book will change the person, and they will think of you every time they read it.

4. Ask a friend or relative if you can take care of their kid(s) for a day or evening. If you have been a parent, you know the value of being able to have a few hours of “adult time” without worrying about the children. Don’t wait to be asked to baby-sit when it is required. Offer to do it at a time when the parent can do something fun and relaxing.

5. Deliver a meal to someone you know that is sick or having a rough time. We have all been sick and know the last thing you want to do is be out of bed. There are also times when life is tough and it is hard to do all of the daily chores. You can be a tremendous help by providing a meal that can be enjoyed.

6. Volunteer time to supporting your local church or charity. Every minute you dedicate to a church or charity will cause many smiles. You will put a smile on the face of each leader just for helping without being asked. You will also be putting smiles on the faces of those that are being helped through the organization.

7. Thank everyone that supports you throughout the day. The list of those that you come in contact with is endless. Remember family and friends, secretaries, co-workers, teachers, Sunday school teachers, pastors, store employees, janitors, gas station attendants, those that deliver your mail and newspaper, and servers at restaurants.

I know this is a list of 7 ways to put a smile on someone’s face, but there is one more way that can’t be ignored. Reveal a genuine smile to everyone you meet. You will experience how easy it is to get others to smile!

12 Easy Steps to Becoming a Happier Person

self improvement

Abraham Lincoln

Bad Day

Ben Sweetland

Best Interest

Desire

Encouragement

Family And Friends

Habit

Happiness Is A Choice

Joyfulness

Laughter

Lincoln

Listen To Music

Mark Webb

Notion

Smile

Tempo

Time With Family

Tom Hopkins

Torch

12 Easy Steps to Becoming a Happier Person By Mark Webb “Being miserable is a habit. Being happy is a habit. The choice is yours.”
~ Tom Hopkins

Happiness is a choice, yet many will never choose it. I find this odd because I have never met anyone who said they didn’t want to be happy.

Here are 12 Easy Steps To Becoming Happier Today:

1) Decide To Be Happy. This is the beginning point of your search for happiness. You cannot be happy if you don’t decide to be happy. Abraham Lincoln once said, “Most folks are about as happy as they make up their minds to be.” So it’s time to make up your mind.
“The joyfulness of a man prolongeth his days.”
~Psalms

2) Wake Up Happy. Start your day off on a positive note. Before you even open your eyes, remind yourself that you have a desire to be happy today. Spring out of bed. Increase the tempo of your movements. Be glad to be alive. Listen to music that gets you up and going. Sing in the shower. Have breakfast with someone who is positive and optimistic.

3) Don’t Let Anything Ruin Your Day. I haven’t had a bad day in years and it is because I have trained myself to be happy and you can too. I may have bad moments but not an entire day of it. If you stay mindful of being consciously happy from the onset of your day, you’ll be surprised at how things will start working out for the better.

4) Get Involved. Spend time with family and friends; that is, providing your family and friends are good for you. If not, seek out people who will nourish you with hope, laughter, and encouragement. Strive to do the same for them in return.
“We cannot hold a torch to light another’s path without brightening our own.” ~Ben Sweetland

5) Smile. This automatically makes you feel happier. Smile for no reason at all other than the notion that it is in your best interest. Most people believe they need a reason and then they can’t seem to think of one.

6) Strive To Be Pleasant Towards Others. I’ve always been told that you can’t make someone else happy. Technically, that is true, but we sure do believe that they can make us angry. Some people will resist you & your happiness, but most will be influenced by your actions. Greet people warmly and with kindness. I encourage you to believe you can make others happy and set a course to do so.

7) Forgive Yourself For Past Mistakes. We’ve all made mistakes but some of us are held prisoner by our mistakes. It’s hard to enjoy today if you are stuck in the past. Let go of this burden and move on with your life.

Fill Your Mind With Thoughts of Happiness. You tend to become what you think about. I know negative things exist and I keep an eye on that reality but I put my primary focus on the happiness I want instead of the things I don’t want. Norman Vincent Peale says that you change your world by changing your thoughts. Think Happy.

9) Use Upbeat Language. Avoid language that lets the air out of your tire. Instead of saying, “I HAVE to go to work or school today” say, “I GET to go to work or school today”. A lot of people would like to have your job or the opportunity to get an education.

10) Be Poised. Pay attention to how you carry yourself. Angry people as well as negative and anxious people have a certain body language. What does your body language say about you? If you want to be happy then walk, sit, and stand like you think a happy person would carry themselves.

11) Live in the Present. Strive to enjoy every moment of your life. You cannot change the past and you have no control over what the future may bring. You can, however, have control of your present. Be more aware of this moment.

12) Be Thankful. Most people focus on what they want or what they don’t have. Learn to appreciate the blessings that God has given to you. Your health, your family, friends & the ability to laugh. I wonder how long your list would be if you were to write down the things you are grateful for. After all, it is Thanksgiving.

Mark Webb is the author of How To Be A Great Partner and founder of Partner Focused Relationships. But, these methods are temporary. The only lasting thing is self motivation. Motivation actually is the enthusiasm of doing something. It refers to inner feeling, strong desires, and expectation about something. You may sometimes loose the necessary level of the inner drive to get something done. Self motivation is what you need to boost the level of your inner drive to achieve your goals.

Self motivation is a form of self encouragement. You will say to yourself that you have the capacity to do better and eventually get whatever you want in your life. This inner enthusiasm will push you forward until you achieve your set goals. You may not even be aware of any reward in the beginning but you keep working on it. You work on it because your inner strength says that you can attain your goals. This is your will power – the driving force behind your self motivation. Self motivation is a combination of will power, goals and ability to continue attaining the highest level of your success.

You need self motivation to accomplish tasks you have now. Along the way, you may be facing with situations that are discouraging and can bring down your motivational level. You need to keep yourself really focused on your objectives to maintain the level of your self motivation. Here are techniques you can adopt to start acquiring higher motivational level and achieve greater success.

Writing Your Plan

Success does not come easy without any proper plan. Failing to plan is actually planning to fail. Therefore, you must give a greater emphasis on having well prepared plan to achieve your goals. You simply need to have your plan written on a piece of paper. Having your plan clearly written gives you more psychological inner drive to work toward achieving your goals. You create more enthusiasm and can see more clearly how you want to achieve your goals. Thus, your commitments will be much stronger.

When writing down your goals, state very specific terms. For example, if you want to accumulate certain amount of money, state exactly how much you want. You must also set a specific date to fulfill your goals and specific rewards for achieving your goals. Writing is not enough if you do not follow up with some reading. You have to make a point to read your written plan at least twice a day. Once in the morning before you start your day; and one at night just before you go to bed. This simple routine will keep you stay motivated.

Be realistic, things happen in life. Unforeseen circumstances may sometimes require you to make adjustments in your plan. Go ahead and make the necessary adjustments. But, try to maintain realistic limits. Do not make it too easy or too hard for you to achieve. Set it just right to maintain your motivation level.

Visualizing Your Goals

You need to simply make your goals as visual as possible to maintain your motivation at the highest level possible. If your goal is to own an apartment, find pictures of your desired apartment keep them in front of your eyes. Visualizing your goals creates a positive impact on your mind and keeps your motivation surging. When you feel very down, visuals will help you provide the necessary boost to surge your motivation level.

Like the written plan, you have to make a point to see the visuals at least twice a day. The images you see of yourself achieving the goals you desire will instill strong impact in your mind, which will control your actions to maintain your level of motivation.

Controlling Your Feeling

This one is not quite straight forward action. It has to do with your feeling in your mind. You need to control what you feel. Your feeling will reflect your mental attitude and moods. If you feel upset and depressed, you will feel as if everything crashes on you. This feeling reflects on your physical self. You will lose concentration and everything you do will be full of mistakes. You have to learn to start controlling your feeling.

The simplest way will be to start your day with a smile. No doubt this can be fake at times due to things that happen around you, but you have got to master this simple task to ensure that things around you will be pleasant and enjoyable for the rest of the day. You can feel the enthusiasm and energy level soaring. You will be able to stay motivated and spread positive energy around you.

Your mental and physical attitudes work closely. Hence, to stay motivated, learn to develop cheerful and confident characters by simply walking with your face up and smile on it. You will realize that your confidence and self motivation developing. It is probably kind of hard to maintain the action, but with time, once it naturally becomes your way of life, you are able to motivate yourself even during difficult times.

Giving Your Effort A Reward

You need to give yourself a reward for what you have achieved. This one simply acts as an appreciation to yourself in achieving your goals. You have to credit yourself for what you have gone through, your determination and your hard work in ensuring your success.

Earlier I said reward is a temporary method to motivate someone. In this case, a reward is not what keeps you motivated. It is just an element to add flavor to your self motivation exercise. You may want to think of a simple reward that sounds reasonable with what you have achieved. Do not get over excited about this. Meaning, the reward has to be at par with your level of achievement. Take this positively to further enhance your level of self motivation.

Fadzil is an entrepreneur, writer, and web content developer. To get all these necessities one has to possess money. This is a great truth that one cannot deny. Money is an indispensable thing like oxygen for survival which can buy anything to everything in this world. It is therefore a precious thing of our life and belongings. Money makes the world go round, and nowhere is this more true than in the workplace. With money, all the necessities including luxuries can be bought for living as well as enjoying life. This is the sole reason why money attracts people, exhibiting its novel character of being a great motivator at work places. Everyone work to earn and get money and better wages can induce or motivate workers to do the best.

Employers know that money is one of the best motivators. However, are bonuses or cash awards always the best way to reward employees?

There are some circumstances where money is the best recognition for extra work, there are other times it is inappropriate.

The primary reason why people have to work is because of money. People are motivated by money the most, and cash is a fair and effective way for management to show appreciation to hardworking staff. Employers know this, and many companies reward outstanding employees with bonuses and cash rewards for good work.

But, in the same time this is demeaning, trivializing, and bad for morale. People are motivated by different things. Some employees have financial goals, others have professional goals, and others have personal goals. So, money alone cannot work for achieving everything. Since every person is motivated by something different, money may not work for every employee. Some people have motivation from within or intrinsically. These people do not often need rewards or encouragement to keep them motivated to complete or finish a task. They have the mind set to succeed. Others are extrinsically motivated, or need outside forces to keep them interested in completing a chore or tasks. These are the people that need a lot of encouragement, rewards or praise in order to stay motivated to complete a task.

Money awards are effective:

Hunger is the greatest motivational force.Money is the tool to achieve many things in life. If you sum up them all, money does assume a great importance.
Money motivates people, and extra money motivates people to work extra.
· Employees compete to raise productivity or standards.
It is not always possible to promote people, so money is a simple way to reward workers.
Money is acceptable for all workers – some may not appreciate a particular present, or some gifts may be insulting.
Money often plays an important role in someone’s decision to join or leave a company.

Money is only sometimes effective, or sometimes does not work:

If employees are highly paid, money may not be sufficient. They may prefer other benefits, such as an award ceremony or dinner, a club membership, a travel ticket, a car, a window office, etc.
Money may set employees against each other, leading to conflict in the office.
It may be difficult to determine the standard or basis for the decision to award the employee.
Employees may feel forced to compete.

Money is not effective:

Employees work for a salary – they do not want to perform like circus animals if paid more.
Money trivializes work, which for many professional employees should be its own reward.
The amount may not bear relation to what the employee does.
If the employer finds it motivating to award money, perhaps the salaries are too low.
There are many other ways to motivate employees such as appreciation, admiration, performance recognition, fringe benefits, job security, personal growth, good atmosphere, top technologies, interesting products or well-organized processes etc.
Empowering workers with responsibility, respecting personal boundaries, recognizing employees as valued resources and creating supportive relationships will go further than just a pay increase towards satisfying employees.
Happy, motivated employees who clearly know what is expected of them and who are given the opportunity to learn and grow in their careers are much more likely to make long-term commitments to their place of work. There is no requirement of motivating them by money.

CONCLUSION:

Money is the greatest motivator for those people who want it to be because if people go around living and breathing for money than it is. Everyone does need money to survive but you don’t need a lot of it to survive because there are some people in this world who can survive with Rs.500 to Rs.1000 in their pockets. Let’s say that there is a stock broker or a wall-street banker, they live it and breathe it, they make commissions or get promoted with every correct quote or point or how much money is in their bank – that’s what motivates them, and the same goes for someone who grew up badly, their motivation is to make it any way possible by making a name for themselves and staying on top; never wanting to return to their past life. A person who is comfortable living the simple life and simply surviving, they may not want to change their lifestyle because they think that money is the root of all evil or are scared of success, period or afraid of losing themself in the money but money can be a motivator but it depends on your outlook on money and what you personally want to do with it or where you want to go.

A PCC student working on some interesting themes and topics.
Article Source

Related Blogs

Cesc Fabregas on Arsene Wenger, “He means everything to me, the …

MissInfo.tv » Tour Diary: Young Money on the road with Drake

McGee's Musings : Observable work – more on knowledge work …

How to Make Money without Google Adsense

Jobs & Business | Getting Recruited For A Work At Home Job

Name the Thing Contest – 137 – Hacked Gadgets – DIY Tech Blog

Glass City Jungle » Blog Archive » Ballot issue to end City paying …

Money: giving till it hurts – Canada – Macleans.ca

Work: who's the boss? – Canada – Macleans.ca

Wind Watch: U.S. cannot rely solely on renewable energy

Self Motivation and Its Importance

self improvement

Better Business

Better Person

Business Motivation

Business Person

Courage

Deserts

Driving Force

Encouragement

Energy Force

Family And Friends

Hectic Lifestyle

Pathos

Sad Times

Self Confidence

Self Determination

Self Esteem

Self Motivation

Strong Belief

Tough Times

Work Motivation

Self motivation is very important.
