Every New Year thousands and thousands of Americans vow to knock their bad habits and turn over a new leaf. Unfortunately the New Year begins in the dead of winter when most people don’t even have the motivation to get up and clean the bathroom let alone altering their entire lifestyle. If you’re looking for a resolution or you’re just curious what your next door neighbor is likely resolving to do, check out the most popular resolutions below.
Weight-loss
This is by far the most popular New Year’s resolution in America and for good reason. With over 2/3 of the population categorized as overweight or obese it’s no wonder that so many people want to drop the pounds.
Quit Smoking
Anti-smoking commercials continue to pollute the air waves, but Americans still can’t seem to kick this dirty, unhealthy habit. Hopefully the New Year will encourage at least a few to drop this habit for something a little more productive.
Quit Drinking
Even though drinking is no longer glorified in the movies and on television like it once was, alcoholism is still rampant across the United States. It’s so tempting to overindulge playing poker chips with your buddies or grabbing a drink after work. But thousands of Americans will try to quit the bottle come the first of January.
The funny thing about New Year’s Resolutions is that people rarely keep them. They start out with the best of intentions but always end up failing miserably. If you want to succeed this year, then you’ve truly got to commit yourself to the task. It will require advance planning and extreme dedication. Good luck and happy New Year!
