2. Give Yourself A Break

Next, you should acknowledge that everyone makes mistakes and bad choices sometimes, and resolve to be true to yourself. Do not be so scared that the others may criticize your comment that you never even make it. You need to get your voice heard, and if you draw comments from it, so be it. Your actions speak louder than your words.

In this case your body language and other non-verbal communication need to be corrected to exude confidence and happiness. A positive body language that matches positive words and thinking will be appreciated by your peers.

3. Slow It Down To A Blur

When we get nervous, we tend to blurt out answers. These answers tend to be the first thing on our nervous minds, which means it is not very thought out. An important thing to learn is to slow down. A person in a conversation with you would much rather you give them good, heartfelt answer than something spat out just for time sake. Being nervous is understandable when interacting with new people.

But a conversation does not have to go quickly. Let the person know you are thinking by appearing to think. Do not stare blankly right before throwing out an answer. Taking time to really think out an answer that represents your thought process and intent ensures that you are actually answering the person’s question and carrying on the conversation logically.

By no means is improving your social skills an overnight feat. To become really successful in social situations, you must practice by putting yourself in social situations. Practice these tips confidently and speak your mind in order to become more comfortable. Learning good social skills can be good for relationships, families, careers, and life.
